In Memory of Mandy💔
September 22, 2020-March 27, 2022
It is with the heaviest of hearts, that we announce the passing of our darling Whippet Mandy.
Rescued from the meat trade in China by Candy’s Hound Rescue International, GPNL welcomed Mandy in Toronto, Canada on March 26, 2022. Shortly after her arrival, she exhibited signs of being unwell. We took her to the Emergency Hospital, and the team there worked on her for hours. Despite diagnostics and life-saving efforts, she passed in my arms, surrounded by her medical team and GPNL volunteer Farzad. She felt and left this world surrounded by so much love. Her past, prior to rescue, was just too much for her.
This is a heart-wrenching aspect of rescue. Mandy’s passing has rippled sadness around the globe. For her international team of rescuers from China, UK, US and Canada, this has taken an emotional toll. Her adoptive family is saddened, as they loved her from afar for so long and anticipated her arrival with excitement.
Mandy will live in our hearts.
For every dog that takes a freedom flight, we will remember her.
Cremation has been arranged, and Mandy will come to her final destination, Newfoundland.
